Mailway Packaging Solutions has been awarded BRC approval for the storage, packing and manipulation of pre-packed and high care food at its headquarters in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
The contract packer, which added flow-wrapping to its service offer in 2009 following the purchase of Perpack, received the approval following an audit of its facilities by Knight International Inspectorate.
Richard Bramma, chief executive of Mailway, said, “In recent years a lot of our work has been in the confectionary and gift-set markets, which has meant the business has been seasonally affected due to the concentration of such jobs in the build up to Easter and Christmas.
"The Perpack acquisition and subsequent BRC approval are aimed at rectifying this imbalance by enabling us to build up our business in sectors that operate at the same high levels throughout the year."
Mailway’s capabilities cover the supply of flow-wraps in perforated bandoliers for dispensing into bagging and cartonning lines at high speeds.
The company has a capacity in excess of 300,000,000 units per annum and its flow-wrapping service incorporates auto-feeding, batch counting and collating in-line. It also offers vertical form, fill and seal standard and quad bagging with multi-head weighing. This allows for accurate filling from 10g to 2.5kg of loose, solid products such as confectionary, dried fruit, biscuits and pet food.
